Breaking Bad painted Saul Goodman as a bit of scumbag. He lacked a lot of morals, but Jimmy McGill certainly does not. This week’s episode of Better Call Saul is far from great, but in terms of character development, it did an excellent job.

Breaking Bad painted Saul Goodman as a bit of scumbag. He lacked a lot of morals, but Jimmy McGill certainly does not. This week’s episode of Better Call Saul is far from great, but in terms of character development, it did an excellent job. by Robbie Jones What an episode. Jesus Christ, that was an experience. Heartbreaking, terrifying, and badass enough to make you fist pump. The Walking Dead is on a real high this week. by Robbie Jones It’s time again for Better Call Saul, although it seems no one called him since he’s barely in this week’s episode. Last week, the Breaking Bad spin off finally picked up the pace and offered us our first truly excellent episode, and the streak continues as we get an episode dedicated to the back story of BrBa favourite Mike. by Robbie Jones Things are moving pretty slow in The Walking Dead right now, but that’s not quite a bad thing. There’s currently no imminent threat, although you’d be forgiven for thinking there was.... by Robbie Jones Praise the Lord! Whilst this week’s episode of Better Call Saul may have adopted Homeland Season Four’s weird habit of “Episode named after random quote from episode that has absolutely no relevance”, it has improved greatly since last week’s dud episode. This week’s strengths include its humour and the chemistry of its cast, but most notably, the improved pace. by Robbie Jones Nobody was expecting Better Call Saul to be better than or even as good as Breaking Bad; we knew a bar had been set and that it wasn’t trying to be reached, so you’d think that, with this mindset, disappointment wouldn’t be too large a factor when watching the show. Disappointment shouldn’t be a factor full stop really because Better Call Saul is far from bad, but much like last week, this week’s episode is problematic for one reason and one reason alone: Pacing. by Robbie Jones Following on from The Walking Dead’s heartbreaking mid season opener, the show has really slowed down in pace. That’s not a bad thing however as we’ve been treated to some great character development, and this week is no exception. by Robbie Jones It’s been well over a year since Breaking Bad left our screens, and many of us still aren’t over it. We can re-watch it and debate about it as much as we want, but the days of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are over. However, it’s not quite over for Saul Goodman, Bob Odenkirk’s fast talking lawyer who acted as the comic relief for the show. We finally get to see his spin off show, Better Call Saul, a series that acts as both a prequel and sequel to Breaking Bad, with apparently some parts even taking place during the show. The show aired its first two episodes at the start of this week, but were they any good? by Robbie Jones It’s back! Yes, it’s that time again for The Walking Dead to return to our screens. Season Five Part One was one hell of a ride, with cannibalistic creeps trapping our heroes, we said goodbye to some major characters and the beacon of hope that was Eugene’s cure turned out to be a lie. Now, we start the second half of the season and upon its return, the show has immediately done what it always does best: Ruin your fucking life. by Robbie Jones When we’re not watching the gripping adventures of Carrie, Brody, Saul and Quinn, we’re forced to sit through the menial lives of Brody’s family. Jessica is the struggling wife who we sympathise with, and Dana has had her fair share of drama over the first three seasons. But there was just one character who never got a look in.... and for good reason too. |
